I'm a little disappointed at the lack of creativity in the S&W M&P Shield deals. C'mon guys, this is Slickdeals... Confused You're supposed to be using coupons, paying with discounted gift cards, and getting the MIR. laugh out loud

Like buying the Performance Center Shield 9mm w/Tritium Night Sights version at Cabela's for $494.99 [cabelas.com], adding a $10.50 box of Fiocchi 9mm ammo [cabelas.com] as a filler, applying the $50 off $500 coupon (176YF50), paying with gift cards bought 20% off on eBay, and getting the $75 S&W rebate.

Which, would bring the net out of pocket cost after rebate of the Performance Center Shield 9mm w/Tritium Night Sights to $311.25 with a free box of ammo (assuming 6% sales tax).

Or, get the Performance Center Shield 9mm version at Cabela's for $424.99 [cabelas.com], adding 8 boxes of $10.50 box of Fiocchi 9mm ammo [cabelas.com] as a filler (and something to shoot), applying the $50 off $500 coupon (176YF50), paying with gift cards bought 20% off on eBay, and getting the $75 S&W rebate.

Which would bring the net out of pocket cost of the Performance Center Shield 9mm to $249.98 after rebate (excluding the ammo's cost here) and you'd have 400 rounds of 9mm ammo that you bought for ~$0.16 a round (assuming 6% sales tax) [total out of pocket for the gun and ammo is $314.15]. nod

If only that was the .45 version. It got sold out at Whitaker before I even had a chance to jump on it. Hoping someone else has it for a similar price shortly.

No luck at the moment.

Is the rebate to clear the sales channel for a new model? If so, as the supply dries up and the prices aren't likely to drop but rather rise.

Considering there's been a lot of good deals on guns and ammo lately I'm thinking it's because of Donald Trump. Smilie I'm suspecting a lot of manufacturers last year produced as much as they could and a lot of dealers stocked way up expecting Hillary to win. Causing another round of panic buying and skyrocketing prices due to her anti-gun stance. Luckily that did not happen and I'm suspecting both manufacturers, wholesellers and dealers trying to reduce stock with discounts and MIR's just to get their liquidity back up and the pipe cleared. I doubt this will last much longer than needed to unclog the supply pipe. It seems to mostly affect the most popular makes and models.I've seen multiple reports than gun & ammo sales since January are nowhere near last year's sales. Although it seems now minorities are starting to buy more guns so sales are rising and prices will go up again in the near future to normal levels. My take is that if you want a firearm and you like the price, don't wait too long.

primarily CCW models and ARs, since those would be the (2) groups of firearms most at threat if Hillary won. basically people were fearing what happened in CA starting in January, would be national law.

these are solid prices, if i was in the market for a Shield i would definitely jump. i have a LC9S Pro which i like better but that's just personal preference

I'm not so sure that it's a temporary oversupply situation. I think demand is likely to stay soft and prices will continue to drop on ammo. They might stabilize for a little while once the glut you're talking about is cleared, but I don't think the demand is there to keep them from eroding further after that. I'm not sure about gun prices as a whole. AR's are already cheap historically speaking. I'm unsure if there's really much room for them to keep dropping. Handguns and other firearms. I don't really know.

That said, I'm not sitting waiting. I'm buying as I see things I want hit prices I'm willing to pay. If they get cheaper later that's okay. I can always buy more if they get stupid cheap. Big Grin

Anyone else notice that they (sd) are filtering out these deals from their search engine? I tried searching for these s&w threads using every keyword and even the exact thread title, never got this as a result. Makes me glad I saved the email with the direct link. Also makes me sad for the future of this website :-(

On the 'All Forums' search, this one is not included. You have to manually check it in order to get the results. SD is well aware of that but has not corrected it. To me that's an indication it's purposely done.

Which makes me wonder why we're bothering to help them profit off the deals they're ashamed of and trying to hide.

because unfortunately there isn't much of an alternative besides slick g u n s anyway.

I posted a thread to air the grievance if anyone feels like sharing their thoughts on it.
