Reviews are so-so on the 6th gen i7 version...

Hopefully the 7th gen is an improvement. If so then seems like a nice price.

You will need to add $150 to the price if you plan to add an ssd. So figure around $730 plus taxes. I think you can find better deals IF you are looking for a system with an SSD.

Any idea if it has an extra SSD slot?

i picked this up yesterday. seems pretty speedy so far, but I've noticed that the disk usage randomly spikes to 95%+. I need to figure out whether this is caused by some removable bloatware.

... and back it went a month later. One morning, it refused to turn on. Apparently, there's enough documented problems with this machine that it wasn't worth trying another one.

Has a 2280 m.2 slot. Easy to access, just remove the 12 screws on the back in you're in. Used EaseUS to clone to HDD over to the SSD and it's far faster. I'd rather do a clean install from Windows, but haven't got the time these days.

Once you've cloned to the SSD, it's a little tricky to boot from the SSD (the boot order doesn't seem to be helping), so it's just easier to pull out the HDD and format it. Once done, you're all good on the SSD for booting.

The m.2 riser is already on the mobo, but you'll need an m.2 mounting screw to secure it to the riser..
