I've had the X12 since November and I've been extremely happy with it! Having a powerful sub really added another level of awesome to my home theater setup. It's paired with four of the Pioneer SP-FS52 towers and matching center. My wife was skeptical about the cost until we watched a movie Smilie.

I have it setup in the Max Extension mode with one port plugged. The low end punch is incredible. Movies shake your insides, powerful rifles in games like battlefield punch you in the chest, and various genres of music really sound great. Even in calmer moments it added a level depth to everything that I didn't realize was missing with the old sub.

For what it's worth I can speak highly of their customer service as well. My unit had a glitch with the auto on/off functionality and they were very responsive and got it sorted out quickly with little effort on my part.

I read good things about this one when I was looking at subs, but I've never listened to it myself. If it's anything like the X12 I'm sure it's fantastic for the money. Two of them can be had for an additional $50 off making the total $449.

I see their "refurbished" Marantz 8802A

I paid $400 less than their refurb price for a new unit with a full 3 year factory warranty from an authorized Marantz dealer

are these prices supposed to be good?

I don't know much about those since they're way above my budget, but it seems like you got one hell of a deal at $1499! That's much better than anything I could find on my brief search for them.

Their price for a refurbished marantz 8802A is $2999

Sorry my mistake. I misread the model number. I was looking at the 7703 price.
