XBox Elite controller +$20 GC, BB, $149.99 or better FS (119.99 open box)

Posted 04-09-2017 by Ross at 12:38 PM
I wanted an Xbox Elite controller with an extended warrantee and the best deals I found right now are:
Best Buy has the Elite at regular price with a "free" $20 BB gift card [bestbuy.com].
In store or online with free shipping.
Not a bad deal, but the *Dell deal was tempting as well.
So them I tried ordering an open box unit for $119.99 with in store pick up or free shipping and to my surprise the $20 GC was automatically added for that as well.
No stores in my area had a refurbished unit in stock and there are none available for shipping so no idea if that would work.

The Dell deal is a great deal if you like Dell gift cards and either don't want a warrantee or want to do squaretrade. For me, Best Buy is the better value because:
  • The reviews on the Elite indicate it is great but that it wears off quickly.
  • It only has a 90 day manufacture's warrantee.
--> therefore, I will not buy an Elite without an extended warrantee
  • Given that I perceive a high likelihood of the controller have problems within 2 years, I prefer the Best Buy replacement guarantee to other programs that require mailing the item in.
  • Given that I plan on buying the replacement policy, I do not have any concerns about the open box item at all. If there is a problem, I will get it replaced.
  • I will actually use the Best Buy card but I might or might not use the Dell card.

*Dell deal: different thread, for $149.99 with a 10% discount and a $50 gift card for a future purchase.

2 down votes already?
No feedback on why the down votes.
If there is a better deal available let me know so I can cancel my order and get that one.

If you know of a better current deal thanks in advance for sharing. Otherwise, screw you. I put a lot of time into finding the best deal available that meets my needs. I felt it was good enough that I took the time to write it up, in deal, and share it to give back to the community. And then some of you want to down vote with no reason for why or with your insights on where I can get the deal at a better price.

Some of you were either not raised correctly or you are a severe disappointment to your mothers.

Costco has the elite controller online for $119.99. Best Buy should be able to price match Costco's price as long as their is Costco within 25 miles of your local Best Buy.

Extended warranty is a MUST on these. I had my right bumper break from regular use on my first one, then the next two replacements that Microsoft provided me with had the rubberized grip come detached. I used the elite controller for a total of about 12 months, going through three before I gave up.

My other two years I've had my Xbox One, I had zero problems with the two 'regular' I've used.
