Linksys - AC1900 Dual Band Smart WLS RTR Gigabit + 128GB USB 3.0 Pocket SSD + $50 Promo Gift card for $179.99 + Tax. Dell.com

Posted 04-10-2017 by gdr75 at 04:40 PM
Was browsing the website to burn my expiring $100 promo gift card and came across this deal. The cost for the two items seem to be around $200.00. So bought into buying this thinking that it is a good deal to burn the useless gift card and get this with another $50 in promo gift card. What do you guys think? Can use a few reps if you think it is a good deal. Thanks.

can use an ssd driver but don't really need a router. I use a google onhub....not that good at playing with these things to unleash their true potential.

Please, oh please do stay away from these particular VisionTek USB 3.0 SSDs .... We purchased 5 512Gb versions (same external package) and 2 died very quickly (controller up and died - no data recovery) ...RMA was a nightmare....

Secret It's not about me. OP asked if this was a good deal; and my answer, since you have no clue why I responded the way I did, is that if only he needed a router, SSD, or both, this would be a good deal. Hope that clarifies it for you.

Ironically, I don't need an ssd driver but really need the router. Wink

It should be noted that this is the WRT1900ACS router not just the WRT1900AC. This router is one of two routers that is able to be flashed with the Untangle NG firewall, https://www.untangle.com Lowest price I have seen is Walmart.com for $169.00. But the Walmart app scans the bar-code of the WRT1900ACS as the WRT1900AC which sells for $143.00 if bought online. So I guess it is possible that you could purchase the WRT1900AC at Walmart.com for $143.00 and they would pull the WRT1900ACS for you? I was going to give this a try but this seems like a better deal. Thanks!

stop spreading wrong information. the chances of getting a 1900ac version1 are nearly 0 if you are buying brand new.

1900ac v2 and 1900acs are the exact same product. it was just a marketing renaming the router a few months after linksys updated the original v1 and wanted to emphasis the improvement to increase sales versus keeping the name the same as the original v1.

unless you plan on flashing ddwrt...btw, i have this router with ddwrt and it is the best thing ever. amazing coverage and rock solid stability with nearly 20 devices constantly connected over wifi.

this combo at $199 might be a better buy for less technical folks and better use out of the external hd.

Sorry, you're wrong. Look at the specs from the Linksys website. Both are current models and my Walmart has both on the shelf. Most notably the ACS has a 1.6 ghz processor and the AC only has a 1.3 ghz processor. And without a doubt the Untangle NG firewall is only written for the WRT1900ACS.

https://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-news/32855-linksys-announces-the-wrt1900acs

Linksys today announced the WRT1900ACS Dual-Band Gigabit Router. This is the same WRT1900AC V2 outed via firmware release notes back in April. The ACS replaces the AC, which will be gone when the last one is sold.
