probably because of the lying listing. this is a totally decent used price compared to the market, they just don't need to lie about it.

if this said seller refurb/certified refurb(like gamestops bs listings) or used i would probably TU it

Yeah, this is NOT "manufacturer refurbished". It is SELLER refurbished, whatever that might mean for this particular seller.

Thumbs down for misleading posting.

Here we go again. This phone is being offered by mywit, formerly pangea deals. Mywit is a retail division of Assurant, the company that provides insurance replacements for the major carriers. When you receive a refurbished replacement phone from Assurant insurance you are getting in effect a "manufacturer refurbished" phone but the "refurbishment" has been done by Assurant to the manufacturer and carrier's standards. So not a "new" phone but not the "used" phone ignorant people on Slickdeals like to complain about.

I have no commercial interest in Mywit; I am a satisfied customer several times over. When they grade a phone excellent, it is in "as new" condition. The phones I have received from them are pristine. They usually come with an unused oem charger, which is unusual for an ebay seller, further indicative of their close relationship with the oem manufacturer. They are also unusual in that they have a 30 day no questions asked return policy. If you want the same phones in slightly less perfect condition for a lower price there is a Mywit Outlet on ebay.

I have bought other mint condition phones from ebay resellers and been quite satisfied but Mywit would always be my first choice because of the condition of their phones and their return policy. These are not phones that are bought in bulk at auction, binned as to condition and bundled with generic accessories.

One tip: it can take Mywit a long time to run through all the units they have of a given phone. If you buy at the beginning of the cycle the phone will be 9.9/10 and indistinguishable from new. If you wait until almost all the units are gone you will get a phone with a perfect screen but maybe the smallest imperfections, so a normal 9/10. But by that time the price is probably 20% lower as well, so still a good value.

I wish people would stop talking out of their a*s about mywit/pangea deals.

I have never had an issue with batteries from mywit but apart from the tests they say they do on their ebay page, it's hard to know exactly how much work they do "refurbishing" a phone. My sense is that they sell customer returns and/or overstock. I think it's safe to say that these phones will be the equivalent of "certified pre-owned" or "open box." I actually don't think there is such a thing as a "manufacturer refurbished" phone in the sensr that HP and Dell used to refurbish products. Phone manufacturers sell phones to carriers. When people trade in, return or replace a phone under warranty those phones are not going back to Samsung. They're going to Assurant who is turning them around as insurance or warranty replacements. Or selling surplus stock via Mywit. When it comes to carrier branded phones Mywit is as close to "manufacturer refurbished" as you're going to get. So yeah, every other ebay reseller that offers a carrier branded refurbished phone is basically selling them used. But Assurant's relationship with carriers and manufacturers is on a different level.
