I checked around and Home Depot has this auger at the $249 price. Even if you are not a Sam's Club member, you can purchase with a 10% non-member service fee, which would make the price around $154 +tax.

FWIW, I just bought a similar unit at Lowe a few weeks ago for $249. It has an 8" auger, but this is a great deal. If I didn't have to hassle with returning the other unit, I'd be all over this.

On the Sam's club link under "member reviews and questions," someone asked if the bit was removable and if it can accept larger size bits. Reply was, "Yes, the bit is removable. Yes, a larger diameter auger bit can be used" I can't find any information to validate this. Will update if I find something.

Thanks.... Saw the person before me said they have a similar one. I was hoping they (or someone who owned one could provide first hand).

But I do appreciate the info!

FYI, the auger bits are going to run as much as this whole unit or more.

Here is an example of an 8" : http://www.northerntool.com/shop/..._200337862

I have some fence post to do .

In sort of rocky soil.

Considering this thing even as a throw away , I vowed to never use a post hole digger ever again Frown

Wife wants fence
Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Anyone have eny experience with something like this?

Tis a $100.00 cheaper than Home Depot

I saw this...has to be a steal of a price. Check Harbor freight. I think they have auger bits too... I almost bought their model to do a fence. I ended up using a post hole digger (not that bad..just takes a lot longer).

Haven't used one, but hear that these don't do too well in rocky soil. Where I live, it's rock, and something like this is the way to go: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B016A...813OB&th=1

Interesting deal. One of my places is in FL, so a post hole digger is fine unless you're planning to run a fence line (and I've got 60 acres, so I wouldn't want to contemplate that anyway). My other place is around Asheville, NC, however. Except for the whole rock thing, it might come in handy there.
