Yeah I was thinking that too...the clerk and manager seemed reluctant to take any more off of the price since they thought it was unusual to be as low as it was.

I'll give customer service a call tomorrow.
I was able to use the 10% off a single item coupon last night. The receiver was $269.98 with the coupon, and $286.18 out the door with VA taxes. I would definitely call and get it adjusted. Yamaha was not listed as an exclusion on the coupon, and the rep scanned it without issue for me.

The 656 has almost every feature one would need (zone 2, more HDMI inputs/outputs, DTS:X and Atmos, phono input, etc.) I think it comes down to less features but Yamaha reliability, or more features but some questionable history w/ Onkyo.
I have a 636 that has the network drop, so it is useless for me with my zone 2 outside because the app can't find it. I have to unplug my Onkyo to get the network back.

Does anyone have feedback on what type of iOS remote app they have for control of this Yamaha? When my Onkyo works, I like it, but again, when it doesn't work....

Thanks. Yeah I called Customer Service and they said I should have been able to use it, but they couldn't just refund the difference. Its still unopened so I'm going to return it to a different location and just re-buy it with the coupon and my gift certificates.

Got this a few weeks ago to replace a 10year old Yamaha ( that was still working but no HDMI).

Very happy. Much lighter but much better sound quality. That's 10 years of electronics advancement.

Using with 15 year old 5.1 KEF uniQ speaker setup.

ARC not working with my Visio TV but that is a known issue with Visio.

Quick to setup. Hidden power on setup menu to enable HDR 4k.

Firmware update when I first used it which took 15 mins or so (over Ethernet)

Working great with harmoney smart hub.

Overall very happy.

I have the "Yamaha AV Controller" app on my iPhone. It works fantastic, is very easy to use, and is extremely fast at switching inputs. No issues in the past 3 weeks that I've had it.

Just an update for others. I went to another BB location and easily got the 10% Off coupon applied. They refunded $40 to my card so it brought to total price for the receiver down to $270, out the door. Thanks for all the help!

Man shopping for AV recievers is so exhausting.

Ive been looking to pair my LG OLED 65inch with an excellent receiver that supports the latest 4k/hdr10/dolby vision/atmost/dtsX.

It's either high price and more features but shitty quality or vice versa.

Im willing to spend up to $1000 and some change for AV receiver to house all current consoles (Switch, XboxS - - >replace with Scorpio, PS4, Amazon Firestick, xbox360).

And willing to spend 1000 (preferably less) for speakers for theater /gaming and classical music, rock, concerts.

I've talked to Best Buy Magnolia team, but I feel like they try to upsell me. Any help would be greatly appreciated from audiophiles.

Looks like this model is NOT getting the Dolby Vision, HLG, and other fireware updates:

How does it compare to Denon S720W? I will be mainly using it for videos/games in the basement by connecting the output to Benq W1070 projector. in room is 20ftx20ft surrounding by other open space. Please advise.
I am leaning towards denon x1300.

Putting together a home theater setup for our new place. Just picked this up today from best buy and ended up ordering this tv: https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/t/10075872

Now on to the speakers...
Can someone recommend a decent 7.1 set for around $500? I wish I didn't miss out on the Pioneer atmos deal
