This MDF durable wood surface fits perfectly on Kobalt garage tool bases such as Kobalt 1-drawer 2-door cabinets.

Found 4 of these at my Lowes in Lewisville, TX for only $7.50 each - went down to $5.27 after $15 off coupon. Made my own work station for really cheap using these, comes out looking pretty good.

Item # 114853 Model # 54790

I posted a picture of the workstation I made in the forum, but you won't see it on the mobile app.

I've dropped water on the surface a few times, as well as grease/oil and it wipes off clean. it's a heavy thick piece of MDF with a clear top coat which is resistant to staining and scratching. unless you leave it soaked for a while I bet you'd be fine. spilled water beads on top and doesn't soak in.

for the DIY workstation I attached it to the top of a Craftsman base which already had casters and drawers. I ended up using it so much that I made another workstation by taking an old two drawer filing cabinet, attaching some $5 casters on the bottom and then attaching this kobalt table to the top with some $1 corner brackets and it's my go-to workstation when I need to do a specialized project around the house and want to roll this thing around with the tools in the filing cabinet drawers. you can find nice sturdy filing cabinets for dirt cheap on CL or most thrift shops. this top makes it look pretty good and at this price it's cheaper than 1/2" plywood which wouldn't look as sleek.

agreed - the name on the website makes no sense. in stores I think it was labeled as kobalt contoured top.

is it just a countertop? How did you use it? The title "Kobalt Garage Storage System" is misleading. Any photo from your work station?

No it's technically for "Kobalt 1-drawer 2-door cabinet" but it would make a cheap way of cutting and other such potentially surface damaging tasks on a in home surface. Say you had to mock something up but didn't want to go all the way to your workshop then you could bust this thing out.

There are tons of items on Lowe's site that have incorrect or misleading item titles.

But anyway, I found one and I'm gonna try to get it tomorrow morning when they open. Thanks OP. I have two 15 inch cabinets in the shop that are missing their tops and I'm going to slap this on.

You want to be very careful with water, especially at the seams. Dry it off quickly and meticulously. As soon as water gets into mdf, it starts to swell and it will pop off the surface eventually, but it will become unusable way before that happens.
