find it confusing that there are so many negative 1-star reviews on Costco.com
(compared to the great reviews on Amazon.com)

The Negative stars are from making small batches (less than 3 or 4 cups of total ingredients).

Put at least 3 cup of total ingredients into your Vitamix that uses low profile container, then you're good.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Am I better off with this Vitamix? Or the $249 Blendtec(certified refurbished) on Amazon? I rarely make more than 2 cups of jucie...

It's a bit hard to distinguish which one is better: this Vitamix 5300 High Performance or Professional Series 500.
Does anybody know which one is better for smoothies?
Thanks

the Pro 500 has the special programs/presets for soup and smoothie, and the container is taller on the pro 500; While the 5300 does not have the programs/presets for soup and smoothie, and it has the low profile container that you can fit under your cabinet; Both are excellent for making smoothies.

if your target has any left pro 500, they're on clearance for $264.

Would you consider the Ninja with 1500W motor for $180 or 1000W for $70 at Costco? My wife makes at least 3 glasses full of healthy smoothies every day with the 1000W version; it works really well but the multiblade chopper could be dangerous to wash if not careful.

I would advise you to go with new ascent series which is also on sale. The new series would be more portable with the new jars that vitamix is about to release, especially the blender bowl. You also get the 10 years warranty on the new series. Easily worth the extra 50$ in my opinion.

I've got one, it works well, but damn, it's so noisy and loud.
I wish they could work more on sound insulation to make it more quieter.

BTW, where are they on sale? Would you please give the link.
Thanks.

Picked up a 5300 from Costco today at $325 - really hoping this thing is worth the price tag! 😜
