Definitely not a "couple bucks" more. What an exaggeration.
Looks like Ryzen 1400 is around $169 [google.com] - so double the price? I tend to agree that's not "adding a couple bucks."
That is like saying a Cessna 182 is faster than a DC-10 if you measure per engine. Do you run exclusively single-threaded applications, one at a time?

Saw this on the Fry's email update. You may need the email code, though the price is shown on the url so I'm not sure if you need it or not.

I wish it was the i3-7350K. It's as fast as an i7 measuring single threaded performance: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html

Adding a couple of bucks, you could get an AMD Ryzen system. Even with just the cheapest Ryzen 1400, this Intel sucker will be blown out of water. These prices are baits to clear Intel's stocks. Be aware!

Any suggestions for a nice feature packed mATX motherboard for ryzen or shall we wait for month or two. Only thing stopping me to get ryzen is lack of motherboard options

Makes more sense to me. If you understood threading then you'd understand that a i3 can run 4 total threads and that 4 total threads is A LOT. You'll also understand that usable you are only going to push say 2 more threads and cores from the i7. The other two will most likely never be used to their potential. So the core i3,i5,and even the i7 are far far closer in performance than people might realize for 99.75% of daily computing tasks.

AMD needs to hurry up and push out some itx boards, my next system will be SFF and I'm ready to pull the trigger.
