Instructions to get this working under Linux:

Taken from https://ubuntuforums.org/showthre...?t=2306417 Try this:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic build-essential git
git clone https://github.com/abperiasamy/rt..._linux.git
cd ~/rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux
make
sudo make install
sudo modprobe 8812au

* Works fine on my Linux Mint 18.1 setup. Should also work on Raspian if you'd like to use this dongle on the Raspberry Pi's --FameWolf

Don't expect great performance or signal from these. The "600" is just a typical low-end 150+~433 which they rounded up to 600 to make it look faster. Also the "5.8GHz" is a dumb label indicating whoever made the stock photo images doesn't know what they're talking about. You're supposed to refer to it as 2.4 or 5GHz. The same 5.8GHz label is on a bunch of other similar but different "brand" items so they're probably all pretty bad.

You're better off with a good N adapter vs a crappy AC one.

In my experience these small form factor wireless cards never get good reception, regardless of specs. Unless you're within a room or two of your router I'd recommend getting a larger one with antennas.

How would this compare to an Internal PCI card but wireless N? I'd love to take advantage of my router's wireless AC but don't want to drop $40+ bucks on a PCI wireless AC adapter. The specific card i have now is as follows: TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter. Thanks in advance !
