Was looking at concentrated outdoor DIY pesticide and found this deal to share with fellow SD'ers:

1. Add 32oz to cart at https://www.solutionsstores.com/bifen-xts
2. Apply coupon code "BOXOFF5" in the shopping bag in upper right corner
3. Check out and enjoy!

For item review, see Amazon [amazon.com]. The short version is that it works better and cheaper than Ortho Home Defense, which is $4ea lowest for 1-gallon (about 0.05% of key ingredient) vs the XTS that can be diluted to 100 1-gallon at 0.06% concentration.

See the mixing ration as provided by the maker, attached here.

The lowest Google Shopping price is $26.99, so a definite saving. Mine was shipped via USPS Priority. Haven't used it yet, but the bottle looked clear and no residue at bottom.

That's a good price and should go a long ways. Bifinthrin is a good product for tons of pests, from fleas, grubs, to roaches. Don't go crazy with it and be sure to use proper protective equipment. While deemed safe for pets and humans, it only means this when it's dry. Watch the overspray too.

When I used to work as a lawn specialist, we used several brands (although never this brand and this high of active ingredient...I mean, this is higher than standard commercial products such as Talstar, crosscheck, etc) the over spray picked up by light winds and naturally back to your face will cause a numbing/burning sensation. Similar to that of a sun burn but more annoying than hurtful.

So just be careful and do not expect contact spray results (such as immediate death). This attacks insect's nervous system. So if you spray an ant mound directly, after a few minutes. You'll witness the wiggle dance of death. Like they're disoriented because they are and losing body control.

However, the problem with using a high rate is you'll create resistant offspring. This bifenthrin is used to control one of the worst pests you can have in st. Augustine/fescue grass and that is chinch bugs. However, the overuse of this chemical has created a resistant breed that now requires a far more expensive product that only golf courses can afford. Talking thousands per ounce. Anyway, this can and does happen to all insects and worse, roaches.

So read and stick to the label.

Okay. Link to show effectiveness of chlordane vs this product and where you can get chlordane for this price and you are golden.

I have used this stuff on my lawn. You can do a barrier spray on the outside of your house with a 10 dollar sprayer from Walmart and you will be good from bugs for 6 months to a year. I diy my own pest control since I can do it more often and it's cheaper.

Does keeping up with regular spraying outside of the house mean you're also bug free on the inside? Is it a good idea to use this stuff inside the house?

The only time I start getting bugs inside is when I slack on keeping up with spraying outside. I never spray inside the house. The most bugs I get inside is about 1 scorpion every several months.

Thanks for the helpful info! I guess you have to avoid spraying on areas that get rained on, because you don't want this product to get washed off?

Bifenthrin needs to dry for at least 24 hours. Plant tissue and soil will have a chalky residue that's not really visible remain and won't easily wash off unless its monsoon weather. Depending on the pest, it should last up to 30 days. Frequent mowings and watering will reduce that. Typically, fleas are a week or two etc.

So will this work to kill or fight off centipedes or millipedes? If not, what will be the best product that I can do it myself? And if I need to spray in the house or just outside around house or both? TIA.

Yes, it will. Label is on the site which includes a list of insects it will have an effect on. https://www.solutionsstores.com/a...ile_id/15/
