Yes, this machine seems like HP took a basic i3 machine and simply added an i7 instead. There are better i5 notebooks available at this price point. In fact, Microcenter has an Acer i5 with USB C and an open m.2 slot for less. Alternatively, Staples has a Lenovo IdeaPad 510 with an i5 and Nvidia graphics for less. Both seem better than the HP i7.
