Mining ETH is absolutely worth it. Especially now that the price for ETH has jumped to $50. Now to build a rig and see an ROI, that might take some time, but if you're into mining to mine and hold to see where it all goes, then I definitely think it's worth it. Take a look at this
https://www.cryptocompare.com/min...PerkWh=.14

This is at 14 cents per kWh, which is roughly what I pay at my home. An RX470 pulls about 80w on it's own while mining according to my Kill-A-Watt and without doing any sort of OC, it'll mine at about 20mh/s. Some cards are better than others and a few of my RX470's with a very slight OC will mine at 24mh/s, which is great for what it costs and how much it draws.

Again, building a whole rig just to mine might not be worth it unless you look at it as a long term investment, but if you're going to buy the GPU anyway and will mine when not using it, it's still very profitable.

Take all of this with a grain of salt, as the markets for any cryptocurrency is extremely volatile and can swing in either direction to an extreme amount, so YMMV

I have no problem with miners at all. They just hammer the 480 market (rightfully so) and once that's depleted the 580 market should then be hammered for the same reasons the 480 is so popular. Just trying to get ahead of it!

LOL I hear ya... I got in a little bit later with ETH mining, but I was big into LTC and all the other altcoins back in 2013/2014. Hoping that these 470s and 480s drop a little bit more so I could build myself a few more rigs.

is mining still worth it these days? I'm assuming only if you pay low electric bills... Genuinely curious.

I'm hoping to see an 8GB RX 480 in the ~$150 range. This is a decent deal but with the 580s out and how they seemingly beat the GTX 1060s by a bit I'm hoping the whole range of cards fights it out a bit on pricing.

This seems like a pretty good deal given the brand of card, and the recent review this series just got. This would be worth it if you weren't planning on shelling out the cash when Vega arrives. It is already beating the 1080ti so I can't wait for the release. May end up having to go with the 580 series though because that is some serious $$$. Most people are comparing this card to a 1060 to the best of my knowledge.
