This used to be a good deal, but not anymore since MINT came out with its annual plan with 2GB LTE data.

I read this was $150 during BF. I also mentioned a promo gone bad long ago with a prefill 500MB bait and switch.

Mint Sim is a T-Mobile MNVO with 2gb @ $16.xx a month. Red Pocket is your choice of AT&T or Verizon at $14.xx a month for 1GB.

Service is better for most on AT&T or Verizon over T-Mobile.

I would love to use this on Verizon network. anyone have a phone deal suggestion? there are almost no mid range phones for it. Moto deals are no-go due to lack of notification led--- very important for me.

I just purchased 3 of the 29.95 monthly plans for my PagePlus phone. Darn.

If I purchase this, can I use it about 4-5 months later after I've used up my PagePlus refills?

Also if I use PagePlus on my Verizon Note 5, the Red Pocket would work on same phone? I would just have to port my number?

Not exactly. MINT runs on Tea Mobile which is about as good as two tin cans and a string in large swaths of the country. Red Pocket has both AT&T and Verizon available, which actually provide coverage folks can use.

Depends where you are. I'm in Phoenix and my Mint coverage is at least equal to ATT (I've tried it). I was just in a few areas of Florida and no problems there either at all.

And I think you can still get Mint for $160 with the right code (try SHOPCLEVER). Plus a few added charges and it comes to about $14/mo (I think my total was $171.50) for 2 GB data and int'l texting (if that matters to you)

I agree with those who mentioned MINT. I use it in northern NJ and NYC without any problems. And (shhht) if you authorize your tmobile Tuesday app by popping a tmobile sim card in your phone, then you can use it with Mint, no questions asked Smilie

I'm 5 weeks in to switching to Red Pocket (Verizon CDMA) from Republic Wireless (Sprint). Call reliability and coverage has improved considerably Opted for the cheap essentials plan that's $8.25 monthly if paying a year at a time or $10 monthly. It only allows 100MB per month LTE but I'm on WiFi 95% of the time and use an application firewall to only allow mobile data for the essential apps so I really don't notice the limitation. My only gripe was it took 3 chats to customer service to get my number ported on activation but that might not have been RP's fault.

As a side note, if you are shopping around for MVNOs and a phone and not sure where you'll land or what network you'll use, check out the Moto X Pure. It's fully unlocked and AFAIK it can work with just about any US carrier.

Note 5 is unlocked. As long as it has the correct bands (you need to confirm this), it will work.

I held a card for about 2 months before I activated and had no issues. Don't see any reason why it wouldn't last longer, but if you're already planning to wait 4-5 months, you might want to play it safe and just wait 7 months until the black friday sale comes around like it has the past 2 years.

Please explain. Do I temporarily replace my Mint card with a Tmobile to download their app? I'm unclear.
