PSA: Items priced $1.99 and under on Walmart.com now have a 2-item minimum quantity purchase requirement.

I checked and didn't see this posted anywhere. If it has been, then ignore this.

I've bought a lot of good, cheap video games on Walmart.com for a while now. They've had, and still have, good games for less than two bucks. Yesterday, I noticed a game I wanted to buy had a minimum quantity of two if I wanted to buy it. I thought it was a temporary glitch because I had never seen their site do that before so I waited until today to buy it but the minimum is still there. I live-chatted with an agent and they said it's a new policy that items $1.99 and under have that minimum now in order for them to save us money, provide us with better service, yada, yada, yada.

I checked other games under $1.99 and sure enough all of them had the minimum. I even checked random items from different categories at the specific $1.99 price point and they were all the same: $1.99 and under, you had to buy two. $2.00 and up, business as usual.

On the front page of Walmart.com where it says "Ready to reorder," eligible items now state "Min Qty 2." Is this a response to the free-pickup discount and elimination of ShippingPass? I surely don't see any press releases or news stories about it. This will definitely affect my shopping habits with them because I frequently bought cheap items alone for store pickup. Buying two and returning one may become a side effect of this new policy and end up costing them instead of saving. Time will tell.

a Q of 2 or min 2 items in shopping cart adding upto $2?
Who needs 2 of the same game?

Too many footnotes, they are killing themselves.

If I want one item, I want one item, not two. The 2-item minimum is all over Walmart's online dry grocery now. You better believe that I'm reducing the number of purchases that I have shipped from Walmart. In fact, I already have. I' m go to start going to a local grocery store, and buying from them, even though I am physically handicapped and it much easier to have as much shipped to me as possible. That's the reason that I started buying stuff from them and having it shipped to me to begin with. Sorry, Target, you just don't have the product mix that I want; I could buy from Dollar General, but they don't have the breadth of selection that I need.

Thank god i'm not the only one. called them very upset with the "glitch". They had no idea what i was talking about. stopped ordering from them because of the minimum qty of 2. so stupid. I'm picking up the items, we're not talking about grocery pick-up. i'm going into the store for crying out loud...

I had read there would be a price discount for pick-up...instead they're basically saying i need to spend more. think i'm done with walmart, going back to amazon.

It's not just items under $1.99. I've found this as well and the items I'm looking at are over that limit and I'm quite annoyed by this. If I wanted 2 of any such item, then I WILL SELECT 2; I don't appreciate Walmart.com forcing it on me when I don't need 2.

I couldn't find anything relating to this until today and I'm glad I found this discussion. But at least 4 items I wanted were over $1.99 and the default quantity was 2 which I don't want. WHY would this make any sense? If your order total does not meet their threshold for free shipping, Walmart makes a few bucks on shipping charges so why require customers to purchase more of a singular product than they want or need?

I'm starting to look elsewhere for these items...hope others do the same and Walmart gets the message.

Its almost as though they are trying to hide the fact that your ordering two as the price shows for ONE with a great big "Add to Cart" button.

Most customers are use to seeing the price and clicking the add button, I think they are banking on the customer not noticing the sale is for two.

As one person mentioned, if I wanted two I would update the quantity to two.

Attention Walmart: Terrible idea to make your customers feel "TAKEN" just to make an additional sale of Oreo's!!
