The few negative reviews all seem to be from people who don't know how to turn the volume up - it apparently arrives at a very low level by default. Long-pressing + & - buttons apparently not made clear in manual or they didn't read it.

One reviewer essentially said it locked up on him & he had to wait for the battery to die for some tone it was making to stop. I've found on many of these speakers there is a hidden reset button at the bottom of one of the ports (usually the AUX jack) - just have to look for it and press it with something long and thin enough to get in there like a screwdriver. Even relatively simple devices like this are small computers at their heart and we all know computer programming can have bugs and occasionally lock up - that's all this is.

The highest rated review said it didn't really have strong bass (as claimed) - but it was mentioned as more of an afterthought & he seemed pretty happy with it. That's the only thing that gives me pause about buying at this point (that and some of these devices come with FM radios built in, which I'd really like as in the battery should last for many days in that mode, which might be good in an emergency). I bought one speaker for the bathroom once that had great bass & I'd like another, but with FM built in. I'm not willing to spend significantly more for such a simple feature though - maybe $5.

Doubtless yet another item made at some nameless Chinese factory which will be sold under a dozen different brand names at various points, then stop being made entirely in favor of some different design once sales slow down within a year or so. Rinse & repeat.

Seems to be the MO over there, not that I'm complaining as long as the quality is up to snuff - this is why I usually wait on these things until they have a significant # of reviews (but not long enough that the maker sees they're selling and starts slacking off on the quality). I'd rather pay a couple bucks more knowing it's worth it than have to deal with the process of returning it.

So basically a speaker and battery pack in one? Seems like a good deal.

I don't get why the phone has to be turned off to charge though - sure would charge faster that way but then no music man.

Has anyone heard of Aptoyu or this speaker? Could be a great deal for 2nd speaker @ $14, but can't find anything on it but a few reviews and nothing on the warranty.

It's kind of a small battery pack though, most phones would drain almost the entire charge in one go

Still is not a bad price for what it is

I don't see it saying you HAVE to turn phone off, just that it would charge faster that way (duh). As another poster mentioned, I'd only expect to use that ability in a pinch as its capacity isn't very large.

Relatively low on reviews - but A on FakeSpot:

At $14, gave it a shot. Thanks, OP!

A rating of 4.7 with 35 reviews and a A grade on FakeSpot seems good to me. I dont need another but I'm tempted anyway.

I think they wanna say "when your phone is running out of juice/battery ". It means your phone is off
