Actually, one of the biggest selling points with a WF card is the cell phone protection. That is a differentiator from the others. I'm not applying for any cards now, but this is one I plan to in the future.

Not sure what you mean by cell phone protection but my 5/3 Mastercard offers that if I pay my bill... it is like insurance and will cover replacement... I don't remember the terms but when I looked them up (years ago) they were definitely more favorable than Verizon's terms.

5/3 cell phone protection got nothing on WF's cell protection

$200 on $1000 spent is rather horrible. $200 on $500 is pretty much the standard for sign-up bonus deals.

Ya but once you run through all those, this is still good. Essentially a 20% cashback card for the 1st 1k.

what is the "cell phone" protection" ? if I lost/broke a cellphone, do they send a new one to me ?
