make sure you have a grip on your drill. these bits will bite and pull themselves through a 2x4(or 2) before you realize it. they will chew through nails and anything else in the way as well.

Alternatively, same price at Walmart (with no yearly $100 Prime fee). https://www.walmart.com/ip/Irwin-...6/19281753 (local pick up not available and free shipping with $35 minimum order)

Doesn't look like Home Depot carries these, but Lowes might price match, YMMV: https://www.lowes.com/pd/IRWIN-6-...et/1209599

Are they worse than a flat spade bit?

I'm guessing these auger bits with the screw-like tips would be bad for drilling into a tree stump, yeah? Sounds like it would be hard to get them out if you aren't drilling all the way through.

You'd be able to get it loose. Or just reverse the drill.

They are worse. Meaning they grab more then spade bits.

Yeah, the screw tip on these really works. They will rip through a 2by. Great for running wires. I got a set for the garage I'm building. They work better with an impact driver than a drill, and they can really wrench on your wrist if you're not ready.

Forstner bits are more used for finish work in cabnitry. Not for drilling though top plates and studs to run wires....

These are great. I've used them for a home renovation. they work even better when paired with an impact driver!
