How come people get furiously upset when their college textbooks cost this much but don't view guides like this with the same scrutiny?

There's simply no way my Advanced Data Structures and Algorithms book cost less to make than this and yet, I bought it brand new for 50 dollars. Not even on sale. (As if a college textbook would ever go on sale...)

Then again, I guess no one is forcing me to buy this guide so that's a pretty big difference.

Thats a cheap textbook for brand new. My CS textbooks cost >$120 brand new. had to rent/buy digital copies to save money. These guides are way cheaper than textbooks.

I had one textbook that was $200. At least the class was heavily structured around it. I hate when a class makes you pick-up a book and it doesn't really get used.

That's why I don't buy my books unless I actually need them.

Thanks OP! I was looking to pick this up, just not at the ridiculous $80 price point listed before. Repped!

I would've been floored if my chem and bio textbooks in college were only $50. Try $300 a pop.

You have to keep in mind you are paying for the content of the book...having professors that can write literature to be used to education is a bit different than walkthroughs for Zelda temples.

That being said, textbooks are absurdly overpriced. New versions often contain mostly old information yet most of my textbooks were $150-250.. F that.

I've gotten an amazing amount of use from my Collectors Edition guide. I may buy this as well to keep preserved.

Expect it to be damaged when it arrives, they pack it poorly. Happened to mine.

I got both the collectors and this edition. Was not really paying attention to size details so I was surprised by how MASSIVE this is in comparison - it's 11 x 15. So it's as wide as the other one is tall.

My kids love to look through these, so nice to have one they can beat up and another for collecting. Agreed I look stuff up online as much or more than using this.

I'll second that. Amazon is hit or miss. Sometimes they use a box, but my last book was in a bubble envelope and had some dents along the edges. Still functional, but not pretty.

Barnes and Noble is a dollar more and has the potential for in store pickup. http://m.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-legend-of-zelda-piggyback/1125797936?ean=9781911015215 Nevermind, looks like store reservations will be charged the store price. I wonder if there's any flexibility in asking for a price match. FWIW, my last B&N order arrived fine, but looks like they have the same issues with packaging.

Hate it when a $50 book is just thrown into a box, while a $10 book is shrinkwrapped to a piece of cardboard to prevent any lateral movement. Amazon is just weird in how they pack things.
