Wow. Seems like pretty good specs for the money. If I hadn't bought my Acer i3-7100u machine a few months back I'd bite on this.

If it's the same screen as this model, then it's terrible, I had to return it! Acer Aspire E15 [amazon.com]

I just bought the HP 15-au063 today and am plenty happy for $499. Might consider an SSD on sale later.

If you keep an eye out you can find these refurbed for 100$ less than this. That's what i did anyways with an acer with the same specs.

Some people like the screen and others don't. Is this worth buying now or waiting on something better?

I compared Acer 525 full HD screen and HP full HD screen from the Staples deal - Acer is a little bit better. In HP even though resolution is fine, colors are terrible. Both are TNs so both are not best. I am semipro photographer and did a LOT of screen/printer color calibration and profiling so I know a bit about colors.
Although for most people both would be ok. Just don't expect IPS fidelity.

For photographers or videographers, color accuracy being important, they will always hate TN's - nothing wrong with that. Honestly, TN's are only desirable due to their faster refresh rates and lower input lag times. So, more serious gamers will nearly always want TN's while everyone else will tend to prefer something prettier.

The display brightness is also an issue. I bought this laptop a while back, knowing the limitations of the display, and I've been very happy with it. This is a very solid budget gaming laptop.

It depends on your needs, honestly. The display is only an issue for people where color accuracy is critically important, but it's fine for the average user. This laptop still has great performance value at this price.
