Here is a popular review on youtube [youtube.com] , looks like they fixed the issues people had with the first batch in this new revision (Treated wood to prevent cracking, no more mmcx crap, stronger strap mechanism...).

I just ordered mine today!

Received mine today, along with a Monoprice Tube headphone amp (the one with DAC and BT). Sending back the amp/DAC. Lots of 60hz hum when using USB DAC and other noises when using line in.

BUT, the headphones--I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to keep them. After watching a YouTube review of them [youtube.com] by Z Reviews, I was expecting to be transported to center stage of a live concert. But, I wasn't immediately impressed like I expected. I have some AKG Q701's (Quincy Jones Signature Reference) I got for about $150 a while back (open back style, but not planar), and am having a hard time deciding which sound better. The M1060's have a bit more bass, and a bit more defined sound, but the "sound stage" seems small, like I'm in a tiny box. The Q701's lack a bit on the bass (being open back), but I think have a more spacious sound.

I listen to mostly modern jazz, FWIW. I guess I will keep trying them for a bit to see if they're worth spending $300 on or if I keep my Q701's...

Anyone else share their opinions when they get theirs?

Apart from the ear pad mod, what else have you seen to do and to what effect?

received mine two hours ago. Also quite disappointed with the sound.
built quality is much better than hifiman h400i.. maybe better than LCD2.
I bought this m1060 because youtube reviewers claimed it's better than LCD2 and close to LCDx.
after listening to DSD music for two hours, comparing to my other planar, t40rp , H400i and LCD2, m1060 only sounds better than t40rp.
on Grace m9xx, m1060 has less dynamic, clarity and vocal image comparing to h400i and LCD2.
hope the mysterious burn-in will improve it.

Do the "paper towel" mod on Head-fi if you're a little disappointed with the sound. Helps fix the sound with no extra cost.

With the Audeze leather free pads and that mod, these sound unbelievably good.

I also have these and the LCD 2. I think they beat the 1060s. The main reason I bought these is the 5 year warranty. They are my daily drivers and I use the Audeze for really listening to music.

Here is some good HQ music samples [youtube.com] to play through the M1060's.

I have to say decent HQ music makes these sound much better. The imaging is better already. Smilie (I'm pretty sure these music samples sound abso-effing-lutely great on anything, to be honest...)
