This is my first slickdeals deal. Couldn't find this on the site. Didn't see a better deal on Google Shopping. Enjoy!

MidwayUSA is selling the Salomon Authentic LTR GTX hiking boot in the Shrew/Burro/Ray color scheme for $69.99 with free shipping this week. The boot has a 5 star review on Amazon and sells for $122 + shipping.

While I agree that the price was missed in the posting, my only point was that there could have been a better way of stating that. After all, the purpose of SD is to encourage people to post good deals, for everyone's benefit, without the fear of ridicule if they make a fundamental mistake in their FIRST posting. I think a simple reminder would have served that purpose better.

They did note it was their first posting. A bit harsh, don't you think?

The illustrations never showed Bigfoot with hiking shoes; I just always assumed his feet adapted to the terrain.

Isn't 2.2lb is a little bit too much for a hiking shoe? I guess I am too used to the trail running shoes as oppose to hiking boots...

While I want to agree that it's a bit harsh, the price seems to me to be a FUNDAMENTAL part of a deal... it's like listing a car for sale and not putting the year or price.

Aside from all the complaining, this is a great deal for a quality hiking boot with full goretex. AFAIK, 2.2lbs isn't all that heavy for a serious hiking boot made for rough terrain.

Kripes no, these are cement blocks with laces. I only plow trail in Keen or Hoka with or without my 40lb. pack.

While I'm not sure on the weight compared to other hiking boots, it does specify on the midwayusa site that the 2.2 lbs is per pair, not per shoe.

1.1 lbs per is good for a mid-height boot. Salomon is a good brand too

Yeah I've been reading reviews on Salomon since seeing this thread this morning and it seems that they are very comfortable and a solid choice. I've been wearing a cheap pair of boots my wife purchased for me a couple of years back and we're doing a lot more hiking. They hurt my feet after a long hike though, and I don't enjoy them much.

In for a pair. Much appreciated OP thanks for your post and repped x4 Smilie
