Great price on a super wide lens from Canon Direct. Every refurb I've bought from them has looked brand new. Sadly, I've been waiting for this to go on sale but couldn't wait any longer and pulled the trigger on a used one a week ago ... for $40 more.

People tend to point out that the base on this lens is plastic, which is probably the only downside of this lens. I do have this lens and shoot a lot with it.

Canon refurbs are great, and this is an IS + STM lens good for video. That being said, 10-18mm is pretty wide even on a crop sensor. This is good for "fisheye" style outdoor (or indoor with good light) shots. Canon DPP software gives you an easy way to pull the perspective back out and make shots look less rounded, so thats a must (its free with canon dslr bodies). DPreview, as usual has a good gallery of samples with this lens: https://www.dpreview.com/products...ple-photos

You're definitely putting that wide-angle to good use! I definitely would pick up one at this price if I thought I would put it to good use anytime soon.

Edit: The widest I have for my 7d Mk II is the EF-S 18-135 IS STM (which obviously doesn't come close to 10mm).

I also will add that I bought my EF-S 55-250mm IS STM as a refurb and it looked and behaved like it was brand-new.

great deal. i paid about 50 bucks more for mine, and I wish I'd waited for this deal. I've bought 5 bodies and 4 lenses from canon, and all were just like brand new. the only loser was a nifty fifty, which seemed to just disintegrate after 2 years.

Do you have to correct for distortion with this lens?

I have the 18-135 lens (bit hefty for travel), do you find that you take a lot of photos closer to the 10 mm range on this lens?

Also what camera do you use with this when you travel?

Ended up getting the tokina f2.8 11-20, just got the rebate. Keep in mind that if you are planning on shooting in lower light, the f2.8 may be a better option. Some may argue that the IS allows you to shoot in lower light and basically does what the 2.8 vs. higher would do. of course the tokina was a lot more new vs. this one used.

Just keep in mind what you will be using the lens for and you should be fine.

I love this lens. Bought it brand new when it first came out and even then I thought it was a great value. It has saved me a few times for family pictures since I'm shooting on a crop frame (Canon SL1) and even my 50mm is way too zoomed in. The AF is buttery smooth so your video recordings won't be bothered with the grinding sound other lenses tend to make.
