well maybe BLU shouldnt have installed chinese spyware on phones outside of china. it's a good thing people actually caught it and brought it to light, otherwise i doubt blu would have done anything about it.

43% of the Amazon reviews are 3 stars or less. 30% of them are 2 star or less. Too many bugs.

I've got a BLU ONE LIFE X. I love it, best phone I ever had. Yea they never did (so far and at this point probably never) did update the Android version. However it hasn't been an issue and I've had it close to 2 years now. Still works great, good battery, great screen, fast, etc.

Uh, Lenovo has a terrible reputation for security patches. I just had a new G4 that I returned to Amazon. It was still on the July 2016 patch. The new G5 Plus models haven't been updated from the January 2017 patch that they launched with.

Motorola was great with updates but Lenovo has not carried on that tradition. Complaints are all over the net about it.

If you want prompt updates you can go with Pixel phones or the new Nokia phones. Nokia is promising to update at the same time as Google. Since they're running 100% pure Android it's an easy promise to keep.

4G LTE LTE: 2, 4, 7 Bands
That is some weak crap right there. No band 5, 12, 17 or 30 to properly support AT&T and T-Mobile, only the bare basics. The Moto G4/G5 is the better buy for sure, considering the network support.

CPU/GPU performance below Snapdragon 615. MediaTek means basically no guarantee of any future OS upgrades.

MediaTek is still meh, but at least is the MediaTek 6755 instead of the older chip on the vendor page, which is wrong.

If they come out with a the Newer SD 6xx series processor on this type of a phone and with a 4GB Ram as well - it would make it a pretty slick deal. That old Media Tek is not really justifying this kind of a price.

Redmi 4 pro/prime : sd625, microsd, 5", 4100mah, 1080p, 3G RAM. 150$ ballpark, except LTE connectivity is bad. Check youtube reviews. Very well rated.!

This is a pretty solid price for the phone, that whole Chinese spyware bullcrap didn't really phase me. I'm in for this.

What's a good cheap phone for international use? I want to take advantage of the freedompop global sim. I was looking at a Blu R1 HD ($59.99 on Amazon) or Blu Life One X2 ($106 on Amazon). Would one of these work fine and take decent pictures?

You'd do okay on AT&T with LTE 2 and 4. I've spent enough time on a Verizon phone to know. But, really, very little to recommend this over a Moto G5.

The global SIM is discontinued and 3G only. I'd look to snag a clearance Moto G4 for the camera. I also like the Moto G Play as a spare. Either phone is great because it ought to work with any US domestic carrier.
