"Not valid for bookings made through travel agents or third party booking sites."

I wonder if this exclusion will get triggered even if I pay in person at the counter (for a reservation made through Costco)

Yeah, I think we're SOL. And you'd be a fool to book/rent direct if u have a Costco membership...Costco rates can't be beat.

Agreed. I looked through AAA, RMN coupons, etc. and Costco just couldn't be beat. Plus, the booking was no-obligation--didn't even have to pay upfront for the cheapest price!

Thanks for the heads up about the Amex Offer! Repped.

I have a Costco membership and I'm definitely not finding those 3 car rental agencies to offer the best rates available. They are the most expensive by $200 at least!

If you log on to each agency's website the deals are better than Costco. What gives? I got fantastic deals last year using Costco!

Anyone have an Alamo code?

Often, you can get to the final page on costcotravel.com, find the Costco coupon or rate code in the terms at the bottom, and then use that while booking direct with the rental agency. Get the best of both with it.

Rates vary day to day, and seem to at times hour by hour. i.e. we're renting a Tahoe in a couple months and booked a month ago for $600, today it's $1500. Keep checking back.

I'm looking to rent in about a week. and in the past weak the rate has come down about $100. Unfortunately, a lot of these places are requiring prepay AND there's a cancellation fee. so no longer can you put a reservation in and cancel it at later point when you find a better deal. been at this all day long trying to find a good deal. Even tried BJ's.
