The post title reads like this is a 5.5 hp garbage disposal and I was looking forward to wood chipper mounted under my sink.
Seems like a good price and great reviews on Amazon

Good point. The description is Badger 5 and the horsepower is 1/2 hp. Let me revise my title a bit.

These tend to crack and leak after a few years. I got a Waste King from Amazon per the reviews and it's been solid. Maybe a little louder, but no issues with anything we throw at it.

I've read that the InSinkErator models you can buy at the big box stores are the "cheap versions" with lower grade parts. Bought mine from a contractor supply place and it's been solid for 5-6 years.

You want to buy the ones that have stainless steel parts, this one doesn't, plan on having to replace in 2-3 years when it rusts out

These seem to crap out after 1-2 years. I replaced three already.

These are great when replacing another Badger. My house is still on the original Badger 1 that came with the house.

These should last ~10 years if you're able to troubleshoot (stuck blades, power switch, etc.)

The InSinkErator Badger that came in my house cracked and leaked. Ended up replacing it with a cheap Waste King which is still going strong after many years.

Not a bad deal if you dont mind replacing after 5 or 6 years due to leaks.
I replaced mine with a WasteKing. Works great
