Does anyone know if Costco forces you to sign up for their t-mobile one plan if I try to get on this deal? I currently have a cheap DOP plan and have zero interest in migrating.

When I last upgraded a line they didn't force me to change the plan, no.

Oops, it didn't come up at all when I searched. In fact, I still can't find it via search. Weird.

It happens sometimes. I searched for 'Costco S8'

I saw the S8. I was not impressed. S7 is still too good. I would wait for the Galaxy Note 8.0 this Fall. Bigger device and comes with S pen. S Pen means a lot to me.

the fine print looks to be a bit confusing, it says "offer requires device installment plan with carrier; costco cash card valid for new carrier customers"

so it's only for new customers?

Are the T-Mobile s8s easily unlockable once the installments are paid off? Also are all the bands available to use overseas or do you have to root and mess with all that firmware stuff?

If you're postpaid, officially you have to pay off the phone AND have used it on the network for 40 days (and not submitted a bunch of unlocking requests already.)

You just need to unlock.

I don't believe so since you need to pay T-Mobile

I wonder if that means new customers to costco B&M carrier stores. Like if you took advantage of a deal at their location, say S7 rebate, then you don't qualify. But current active accounts with a carrier are fine.
