Price drop for this awesome lens but B&H is throwing in anextra filter and the Sigma Calibration dock ($60 value) and free expedited shipping. Been looking for a deal and I think this was a pretty good one for being from an authorized dealer with extras!

35mm is the perfect focal for street photography and travel photography. It's wide enough to get the scenery behind the subject. Not every lens is for portrait and this lens is clearly not for that purpose. Not everyone will pick the 35mm and get close to anyone face for portrait.

'Far'? I think the term is wide. I like street scenes on the 35mm. Especially if the body is cropped.

35mm is to far for portrait, prefer 50mm or even better 85mm... what you guys really use 35mm for ? when I use the 50mm sigma.. I have to get close to get a nice pix but its good... 85mm have been great using from others... 35mm, I assume I have to really get close even wide angle to get a close portrait pix

Sorry, but this is widely regarded as one of the best portraiture lenses currently available. The bokeh rivals the Nikkor 35 1.4 (some say it's better, especially when you consider it's more than half its price) and most will regard this lens as being sharper, provided you get a good copy. Chromatic aberration is also virtually non-existent with this lens when compared to it's Nikkor counterpart. One of the best features of this lens is how fast it is. Anyone who has shot weddings or parties in low-light situations will realize the importance of a quality sharp, fast lens.

The fact that this comes with the USB dock is a huge plus because many will utilize the dock to adjust for the occasional AF issue.

I have this lens and it's great and with a dock and extras for $799 new is great. Can take great street photography pics and is a great value compared to Canon's and Nikon's 35mm 1.4 offerings ($1200-$1400).

We're saying that it is not just for portraiture. No harm in learning from others, but when the first comment is one that says other lenses are better for portraits, it might be perceived negatively when, in fact, this lens is highly regarded in that capacity. And like others said, it does other 'stuff' (other than portraiture) better than other lenses at this focal point.

The Sigma ART line is pretty high grade. I would slot it beneath Canon L, and whater Nikkor top grade is (sorry I just dont know the labelling for Nikkors). Then the non top grade manfuacture gear comes below ART.

I think this is a great deal. Gray market for the 35 1.4 art is around 700 (eBay price) Dock is 60 and that specific UV filter is 38 (BH prices)

For the same price you get the USA warranty and potentially 30 ish back from BH 4% rewards.

Where is the deal for the Nikon mount?

All of the other mounts - Nikon, Pentax, Sigma, and Sony are all available at the same price, though the Sigma is not listed as in stock, but rather "special order" available in 7 - 14 business days.

Also available at Amazon [amazon.com] (all mounts except for Sigma) for $799 with prime shipping but no bundle.
