Kobalt 40V 2.5A String Trimmer ($99.00) plus Bare Tool Leaf Blower ($54.80)

Lowes has the Kobalt 40-Volt Max 13-in Straight Cordless String Trimmer and Edger on sale for $99, regularly $149. This includes the 40V, 2.5A Battery.

They also have the Kobalt 40-Volt Max-Volt Lithium Ion (Li-ion) 350-CFM 100-MPH Medium-Duty Cordless Electric Leaf Blower (Bare Tool) for $54.80, shipped free to store.

The battery from the string trimmer can be used in the leaf blower, so you can get the combo for $153.80 plus tax. I have been looking for a combo deal like this for a while because I have a small yard and only will need one battery. It seems like a good deal, so I figured that I would post it.

I'll add that I bought these separately using $15 off $50 coupons and I used my Discover cash back to buy Lowes E-Gift cards at 10% off, so that ended up making it cost me only $120 w/ tax, but it's still a deal without those discounts.

this Hing goes through line very quickly but it does actually work well. wish I knew an off brand that worked with it.

For anyone who doesn't already know, this string trimmer feeds line almost every time the trigger is pulled to run it. What I do is try to leave it running unless it takes long to get to the next cutting spot, instead of keep turning it on and off. It does run down the battery faster this way, but I'd rather have that than using up the line spool fast.

I was worried about it being under powered when I made the switch. Never had any luck with the 18v trimmers, and almost went gas, but decided to give electric one last shot. I love the thing. It's packs more punch than I expected, and is plenty powerful for me - granted, I live in suburbia, and my trimming consists of whacking down the grass around my swingset and edging. I'm not sure it would be quite powerful enough to chew through dense growth.

To netstroller's point, the line does feed pretty quick, and gets stuck once in a while. I'd prefer a bump feed. But, at least the spool is easily self-refillable. You will spend a fortune if you use their replacement spools.

I bought ~$150 when it came with an extra battery (which has sat in a closet for over a year). Saw this, and I'm picking up the blower to toss the other batt in. I've read mixed reviews, but hoping it's decent.

Thanks OP!

Looks like there are two 40v string trimmers that Kobalt makes. Did a compare on Lowe's website. This sale is for the 13" model that has bump feed and .08 dual line. The other is a 12" model with auto feed and .065 dual line. The battery is also a 2.5 ah on the 13" vs the 2.0 ah on the 12".

Hopefully the bump feed helps with going through line since some of the comments here indicate that is an issue.

Add YMMV - and very highly at that. Nothing around in the SE for that price.

Fair enough -- looks like they have a second 40v trimmer model. I'd take this over the auto-feed of the (older?) 12in one:

Must be ymmv on the trimmer. All I see in the stores around me is $149. Blower is price stated though.

OP - Is this online, in store or from an ad?

I bought the older version of this trimmer a few months ago but I have been eyeing this one as it has the bump head, bigger line, and 2 speed options on the handle. Does anybody have any experience with the kobalt hassle free guarantee? Could I just say I am unhappy with mine and have them swap it out?

EDIT: It looks like the price went up to $149 since last night.
