Acer via Amazon [amazon.com] has the refurbished Acer CB3-431-C5FM chromebook for $186 shipped.

PC World Review [pcworld.com]

The only thing missing on this is a card slot. Always seems to be one compromise when choosing one of these.

Well I have a Chromebook, and I disagree. Yes, Windows can do WAY more. But here is why i bought this Chromebook rather than a Windows laptop.
1) Portability - This thing is very light, very thin, I wanted something just on the go for web browsing, when I'm at home, I have my desktop.
2) Excellent build quality - Aluminum finish (this is not plastic)
3) Battery life - 8 hours
4) Ridiculous startup time - Takes about 3 seconds to turn on
5) Screen - 1080p at 14 inches
6) Excellent wireless receiver

Try and find a windows laptop that's this thin and light (portability is VERY important), with aluminum body, 8 hours battery life, not used (means the battery might be old, higher chance something goes bad since its refurbished/used), starts up in 3 seconds (need a very fast solid state, and even so its not happening) and has a 1080p screen. You'll find something, but its not going to be anywhere near $200. It'll be at least $400 probably closer to $700. It'll have a way faster processor and it'll be a better computer. However, if this fits my needs and does what I need and its way cheaper, then I don't see the point in spending more on the PC. To each their own, if you feel it sucks compared to Windows, I don't blame you and get a real PC, but this thing has the features I VALUED and it was way cheaper. Also, I play YouTube at 1080p no problem. This thing also browses the net just fine.

Well he said "these things". Makes me think he's just anti-chromebook with no real knowledge.

I have an old Acer C720 Chromebook for about 3 years and it's still running strong with no noticeable lag unlike my other computers. I have it hooked up to the TV for streaming at hotels at a pinch without issues. Best $150 laptop ever.

seems good for 1080p and 32GB. I like my $120 flip acer R11 but screen and storage could be better. Andoid apps on tent/flip R11 touchscreen are great, 1080p HDMI, however it fills up my R11 16GB storage quickly. These are built tough!

Note: This acer 14 doesn't have touchscreen, android apps (yet), SD card slot, not convertible like my R11 so I think I came out ahead for $120 from acer ebay refurb.

Arrived today.
Upper right of U key doesn't depress and I key sticks. Appears that one of the keyboard rivets in that area is mechanically blocking the keys.

Have one and love it, powerful enough for surfing the web and streaming videos, and that's 99% of what I use a laptop for. Only downside is no touchscreen and hasn't gotten Android apps *yet*. It's scheduled to, but right now they're only on the developer channel.

Wish it had an SD card slot, but I suppose I could always buy a USB adapter for that. On the fence. Only a 90 day warranty is concerning.

The lack of a card slot is the one minus. And 90 days is normal for a refurb.

They also have the CB3-431-C5M1 for the same price. Only difference is the last two digits of the model number. Can't find anything that suggests they're different build-wise.

Junk. Get an old i3 Win10 laptop and have a full PC. These things stutter playing YouTube.
Literally no different than saying PlayStation is junk and to get an Xbox instead.

Same here. DrRad has no idea what he's talking about. My C720 plays 1080p video like a champ!
