Has anybody found any other less expensive cameras you can use this with? Or are there other things it could be used for? It outputs to USB so it seems like it could be used for other purposes than just with the Ring Camera.

It might work, but what its going to come down to is power consumption. If your camera uses similar or less power to a ring solar panel it will probably work fine. If it doesn't then might not work.

What I'm wondering about though is what if you have 2 weeks of rain, is it enough to power up the camera? I have a full solar install on my roof and on a winter rainy or snowy day power production can be as low as 0.5% (one 200th) of that of a sunny summer or spring day.

The solar charger still charges albeit slower on cloudy/rainy days

This is 2 volts, most dash cams need 12 volts.

Incorrect. This is a 2 watt 6v solar panel, which outputs 5v which is USB voltage. Car dash cams use a 12v to 5v converter and most are powered by USB which is also 5v. So yes, this will work with most dash cams, but its solar so won't provide power at night...

as it turns out cheap cameras are now dime a dozen. i am also using ants but given the alternative panel linked above this whole remote monitoring setup can be even much cheaper than the 30 +20, which isnt exactly cheap.

the ants do a decent job at night, and the arm is actually useful in orienting and mounting out of the way/sight for me. This simply gets the setup free from wall warts and the desert sun should theoretically keep things warm year around. You need some elementary weatherproofing and mounting in such a way that when the lithium batteries in the cheap powebank explode they dont burn the house down.

Saying it was removed from my cart due to high demand and is sold out. Wonder if I call the store and have them check.
