Best Buy appliance sales associate here! This installation is for the standard labor only. That is a $139.99 savings though. However, you will still need to purchase the dishwasher installation kit for $29.99 in order for us to install the unit. Make sure the old one is out of the way when the team arrives or we can always have it scheduled for Haul away for $15! Smilie

Here is the other associated information, "Applies to labor on basic dishwasher replacement and installation only. Does not include delivery and garbage disposal installation. Additional parts and extensive labor extra. Excludes clearance items, special order and prior purchases."

Scam is scam.

They won't install unless you purchase that kit which is way cheaper elsewhere. Also, you can use the old fittings/cord from your old dishwasher as long as they aren't damage. However, no B&M store will do an install with your old stuff.

Also, paying someone to haul away an old (and even possibly broken dishwasher) just so they can spend minimal effort to sell to a refurbishing place is just dumb. Never pay someone else haul away an old appliance. Chances are you can sell it regardless of the condition it is in and have the buyer pick it up.

As for something like a dishwasher, it's basically 2 hoses to hook up. One for the hotwater line and one for the disposal (if you have a garbage disposal unit otherwise it will use the outlet from the main sink). Fittings and cords are all standardized in the US on these.

I just installed a brand new dishwasher today I bought from home depot. Kitchenaid one, but took me about 30 minutes to move the old one out and install the new one. It's not that hard at all. Any B&M store basically $160 is just a rip off. The installer makes no where near that much money. On top of it, it's considered "polite" to tip the installers most of the time. Which makes the whole ordeal even worse.

For reference, you can buy the same kits off Amazon for $13 or so.

You can't price match that to bestbuy or any other B&M store because the packaging has a different label on them. Even if they are probably exactly identical.

Now as for the maytag dishwashers themselves, they are currently rated near the bottom of the barrel. Consumer reports, Cnet, ToptenReviews, and many other sites don't rate them anywhere the top for performance, features, or durability. Better off with a good Kitchenaid, Bosch, LG, or Samsung dishwasher.

EDIT
As for the dishwasher I bought it was the KitchenAid KDTM354DSS. Lowes has it on sale Monday only online for $899. I had Home Deport price match Lowe's, got them to do the 10% beat, and had them take another 10% off for military discount. Ended up at 719 + tax with free shipping to my house.

Speaking of which Sears still has the same unit for sale at $899.

Know what isn't top rated? Maytag dishwashers. They may make great appliances of other types, but not dishwashers right now. See here

I'm sorry that you're so upset about this. I'm just going off our SOP and my two years of personal experience. I'm sure you can save money or do it yourself, and it's nice to hear that you did. However, this option is here for those wanting to take it. Smilie It isn't a scam. This is just an option for someone to potentially save $140 that the wouldn't otherwise have through us. Have a wonderful day Smilie

The only "scam" part is being forced to pay an extra $30 on top of any install fee. It's a bundle scam by definition.

Now does BB do the install for the money? Sure they do. Is it worth it at the normal price. No way ever. I can call any number of people off Angie's List and pay them $50 for the same thing without having to buy an install kit. I could even get some cheaper help than that if I looked in the right places. I know a few people hanging outside home depot/lowes in the morning or off craigslist that would do it for $10 and a 40 ounce. Why? The work involved is minimal at best. There isn't any real effort or labor involved at all.

Even with the "free" install, it isn't free. Again you HAVE to buy that install kit from BB or they won't even give you the 'free" install. So basically it's a $30 installed instead of the normal $170. But only for shitty products they can't sell and no one should be buying in the first place.

I just moved but had a Maytag 4949 at my old house. It wasn't super quiet but it did a much better job cleaning dishes than the Samsung that came with my new house. The racks were quality and better laid out. I wouldn't pay $899 for a Kitchenaid when this does a splendid job at washing dishes for less.

Bestbuy is mostly using contractor guys for installation, and of course they'll pay them for your installation.
