Sling TV has a new offer for an AirTV Player and AirTV Adapter for just $50 when you prepay three months of Sling TV.

https://www.sling.com/devices/airtv

It looks like the AirTV device allows you to access Sling TV, and Over the Air Channels all from the same device / remote.

I can't tell if there's a way for current customers to get it. Can't seem to log in through the website.

The fine print says no, but I do not know if it would work or not for current customers.

Fine Print - "Device Offer - One per customer and cannot be combined. Must provide email address and credit card. Must pre-pay for three months of service. New customers only. Limit one device per Sling TV account. Not available with free trial."

I would be a new customer. Still trying to decide between the AirTV and the Roku Premier+.

Some things I like about the AirTV are the ability to use it for OTA channels, you can use the remote for volume and power on the TV, it has a ping option if you misplace the remote, you can pretty much download any apps from the Google Play store, and from what I have read it works pretty smoothly.

Some things that I do not like about it, and is making me think of going for the Roku Premier+ (which they aso have a deal for, listed in another thread), is that you can't use Amazon Video (no Android app), Sling Cloud DVR is not available for AirTV yet (they are promising it, but who knows....).

I just chatted with a Sling TV CS agent. They said that the DVR is not available with the AirTV and they have no idea when it may be available.

Also, I remembered one other thing. The AirTV does not have a headset jack, the Premier+ does.

I have an AirTV with an OTA adapter. In fact, I'm watching TV on it now.

It works well with the occasional random reboot, maybe once every couple weeks.

The only big downfall, which I've only had thus far, is that the HBO GO app does not work. We keep receiving "error, cannot play" messages with it, DESPITE a factory reset with multiple cache clearings. No clue why it's not working, but it isn't.

Besides that, it's a great alternative to cable TV.

Also, if you purchase it from AirTV's website, you get a $50 SlingTV credit.

Is there a way to get both promotions? I was assuming that the Sling TV deal would have to be purchased through Sling TV.

Thanks for the review! Does the option for the OTA channels work easily?

Ya, I really wish the Roku remote had a friggin power and volume button on it!

Yeah, the OTA feature works pretty well. You'll have to buy your own antenna, but Sling's OTA interface pulls the TV Guide for those OTA channels, so you'll see what shows are upcoming.

Unsure. The $50 credit came as a coupon in the box. I would imagine you cannot combine, but you never know...

I agree! We currently have a Roku 2, I think it is (purchased it about 2 years ago) and we unplug it when not using it, as my son feels it drags the internet down.

We already have a rooftop antenna. The TV Guide would be awesome!

Yeah, it would be awesome if both deals would work! That would make it FREE!

So, how does this compare to Fire stick and roku as far as speed goes? I'd like to know more about the technical aspects of this thing.
