Litter Robot has reconditioned Litter Robot III Open Air units on sale for $360. Reconditioned units are hard to find so I thought I'd share in case anyone else is in the market for one of these. New units retail for $449.

Thanks. GF and I have been considering one for weeks and this might just make us jump. Almost $100 off is a damn good deal.

look for catgenie 60s on Craigslist and hack it with an Arduino. I did the entire setup for $100. been running off water for a few months no issues other than the occasional clogging that I would get normally.

I bought a refurbished one around 6 months ago. Looks perfectly new and functions great. This really reduces litter cleanup work. Happier kitties and happier humans!

litter-robots are off the hook! they are large units and take up a good amount of space, but if you can handle that, get one. you won't regret it and you'll never be able do without it again. the "rolls" of automated litter boxes.

If you have cat with FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease), or one that has had several UTIs in the past, skip this and stick with a traditional open-top litter box. Seriously. Cats do not handle stress well, and if they already have had urinary-related issues changing their litter box to this behemoth will cause a whole lot of issues.

watched a ton of glowing youtube reviews, and this refurb comes with an 18 month warranty so no harm in trying it out for 90 days

Can 3 cats share this our would I need 2? And does it make sense to buy the extended warranty? Do they break?

These are recommended for multiple cats so you should be fine with one for 3 cats. The unit will clean itself after each use so it shouldn't be a problem. As far as the warranty, I'm not sure. I did not purchase the extended warranty myself.

On a general note, I received my unit today and there are no cosmetic blemishes. Hopefully we'll start using it tonight.
