I'm so glad the "you shouldn't speed" douchbags and the less annoying "you don't need radar detector if you have waze" pricks haven't gotten here yet

sounds like someone doesn't know the difference between laser and radar....

Simple science, eh? If someone across a large open field is looking for you with a flashlight, can you spot the light from the flashlight long before he gets close enough to see you? Before he even points it in your direction? Did you even bother to research your "simple science" assumption? Do you think maybe you should have? Are independent people who test and compare these things fabricating the results? Are all those YouTube videos of comparison testing where they are picking up stray radar signals miles from the source faked? Maybe it's not the millions of radar detector users who have had - on multiple occasions - more than enough warning to slow down before getting a ticket that are wrong here. Perhaps it's you.

I bought this a couple months ago when it dropped to $175. It is a great radar detector, especially for the 34.7 Ka band which every cop uses in my area. Performs just as well as the $300+ detectors. Has already saved me a few times.

Unidens R1 and R3 are available for preorder and they kill everything on the market when it comes to range, even the Redline and some external units. Probably the reason for price drop on DFRs. Rs are priced at $300 and $400.

Nice, my old rx65 works great, but I'll probably upgrade once the dfr7 or another good gps unit drops to the 150 mark.

Is it worth to upgrade from Escort Passport 8500 (GPS version - DFR7)? The false alarm from Blind Spot really annoys in 8500.

Only you know the value of your money and your style of driving, so we can't answer the question whether it's worth to you, but DFR7 is definitely a better, more modern detector. Note that there are new detectors coming out really soon so further price drops might follow (although I don't expect them to be big as DFRs won't be discontinued, they will be below R line). For what it's worth, my LRD950 running DFR7 firmware doesn't false nearly as much as my previous 9500ix. Only certain types of cars with BSM are able to punch through filters. With quiet ride (low speed muting) and K band filter, it's pretty quiet. The only disadvantages for me are related to lockouts: no auto-lockouts, only 100 lockout memory and lockout perimeter is small which requires multiple lockouts for a single false source.

Looks like DFRs are in continuous price drop when you check camel x3 graph. Depending on how sales go, these drops might continue or they might be reversed as well.

Actual third party legitimate tests have been done? or is that what uniden advertises?

edit: never mind I just saw review of beta r1 by vortex and it looks incredible. New R series will be even more popular than radenso if uniden does BSM filtering right on the units.

All reputable community members got results in-line with or better than Redline: Vortex, Brainstorm69, Dukes etc. R3 has GPS, costs less than Redline, better range, much better filtering (Redline is basically unfiltered). Pretty amazing.

Check RDF: https://www.rdforum.org/forumdisplay.php?f=169

and for tests: https://www.rdforum.org/forumdisplay.php?f=25

Highly rated Radar for the lowest price I've seen.
OP, please add 'detector' somewhere. Many will miss this deal because of lack of this keyword. You've only used 'radar' and 'detection' which doesn't correctly describe the product.
