I would like to downgrade this card before i get charged with annual fee.

currently,I have 100$worth points equivalent to 150 travel.

1)which is the best downgrade card?
from my study I liked Chase Freedom
2) should I use points before I downgrade the card,so I don't loose travel worth 150$

thanks

I would like to know something similar. I should downgrade sometime in July or August, so I'd like to know in advance too.

I've got two of these cards in the family, so I've got a total of 200+K points and not sure if I should sell them now, or redeem them at the 50% more Reserve travel website, but any suggestions or recommendations would be helpful for OP and me, and I'm sure there are more inquiring minds out there Smilie

At Chase, you have 30 days to product change to a no-fee card and get a refund of the annual fee.

If you want to end up with a Chase Freedom card, it may be a multiple step process. I've read that you have to go from CSR/CSP --> CS --> CFU --> CF in that order.

Yes, if you want to be able to redeem 1.5x for travel you'll have to do it before you product change.

Thanks for the info!
I already have a CF and a CS card on my account, so at this point, I would just want to downgrade to something thats no-fee, so I'd be fine with a CFU.

I downgraded my CSP to a CF a couple days ago and plan on keeping the CSR. No issues with the migration shortly after my AF ($95) posted. Since I still have the CSR, I can keep the points on the card and just transfer them over to the CSR as they accrue.

Actually CS is the no-fee Chase Sapphire (not preferred or reserve) card here.

Silly question, but if you have another Chase cc, can you just transfer all your points to another Chase cc in your account prior to downgrading? or would u lose all that hard earned amt? TIA

Yes, as long as the card uses UR points. However, you wouldn't be able to transfer them to a card using a different reward system (IHG, Disney, etc.).

and it would follow the redemption rules of the transferred into card, not CSR.

I just called customer service and was told that I can downgrade it to Chase Freedom directly

If we downgrade to a different card with chase, would there be a hard hit to credit history?

Balance transfers must be done from one bank to another. Like Chase to Discover or American Express. You can not transfer from CSR to Slate as they are both Chase.
