paid 100 dollars 4 months ago for this iron. It is a great soldering iron. Way better than the cheap ones.

Good price on a solid unit.

We have used these for years at work.

They are used 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Very rarely do we have to replace one.

I got the digital version of this for $25 on clearance at radio shack (R.I.P.) and it's changed my life. The thing heats up in under a minute. Insane.

I've been using an older version for over 20 years. I need a backup for that price. Walmart has it for $75.88 and a pickup discount of $2.81. I wonder if they automatically lowered the price because of the Amazon deal? I just ordered from Walmart.

I've been using one of these for hobbies for years and it's solid. The pencil is showing some play from the base and the hot end.

Fry's has the Hakko for about this price and I'd probably get that over this. it's digital and so far has been just as good if not better in every way.

Have had this exact unit for ~ 10 years. it's a workhorse. Leave it stored in your house/conditioned area and not in a place where humdiity can get to it (garage/non dehumidified basement). my spring holder rusted while in the garage during the summer.

This is a great deal on a serious piece of kit. I have a perfectly good station that has a hot air gun on it, and I am seriously thinking about buying this one as well.

Bought this unit a few months ago. Absolutely love it. Heats up very quickly and I was able to find third party tips on mouser for a reasonable price that have worked very well. I haven't thought I needed a digital read out at any point

I've read good things about Hakko. Then the guy I work for bought a Hakko iron which I thought it was terrible and it failed rather quickly.

I have the Weller EC1002 which had been going strong for 20+ years. I think I paid just under $200 for it. The only problem i've had is the cord on the iron broke internally where it flexes. So I shortened it a couple inches and it's still going. I also have a bunch of ETA tips so I'll stick with Weller. Though I guess the new irons are made in Mexico. Thus the lower price.

BTW , I prefer the analog unit. The accuracy is the same as the digital model.

Mouser is a good company to deal with. They'll ship USPS for a couple bucks on small orders. The ladies that answer the phones are very pleasant. Much more than the idiots at Digikey.

EDIT: Pretty sure the tips at Mouser are geniune. Apex owns Weller

Thanks for this. I had Walmart gift cards I needed to use, and I just so happened to also need a soldering station.

I posted this earlier. Walmart has it for the same price with free pickup at your local store, if you don't happen to be a Prime member.
