These are NOT the carrier models. These are the SIM free models subject to the US Reseller Flex Policy!!!

For the iP7/7+, Best Buy is selling the SIM free models subject to the US Reseller Flex Policy. That means these phones will follow the unlocking policy of whichever carrier's SIM card is in them for the initial activation. If you use a Verizon postpaid SIM card for the initial activation, the phones will be SIM unlocked. If you use any other US carrier's SIM card for the initial activation, the phone will lock to that carrier. If you use an international SIM card for the initial activation, the phone will not activate at all.

The Verizon postpaid SIM card can be inactive or active, but if it is inactive you will have to do the activation either over WiFi or through iTunes using a computer that is connected to the Internet. The activation requires that your device both send and receive data to/from Apple's activation servers so your device must be connected to the Internet either through cellular data (only possible with an active SIM), through WiFi or through iTunes on a computer connected to the Internet. You can only use a US carrier SIM card to do the initial activation on these phones - they will not activate with an international SIM card. And if you use a Verizon postpaid SIM card, either active or inactive, the devices will be unlocked for both domestic and international use. Do NOT use a Verizon prepaid SIM card for the initial activation because we don't know what will happen if you do - the device could end up locked to Verizon prepaid for 1 year.

If you are on Sprint or AT&T, I would order these ship to home or pick up in store. Then when the package arrives/is picked up, you can use a Verizon postpaid SIM for the initial activation.

You can buy a Verizon postpaid SIM from Best Buy for $5-$10 or from a Verizon Authorized/Premium Retailer for $10-$30.

GSX reports on ebay are 99 cents and those will confirm the unlock status of your device.

Dang. I really want one for Verizon.

Wait, this can be unlocked with a Verizon sim? I don't have a sprint account so I would have to create one to get it at the discount or will I have to ride it out for 2 years with sprint to ultimately get the sale price?

Yes need sprint account. Insert Verizon sim first to activate and it will be unlocked. After payoff can cancel service with sprint.

Ok so basically this deal is great for someone who has a Sprint account but knows someone with Verizon.

You'll get an unlocked phone from the get go but have to stay with Sprint for two years.

Wouldn't you just request an unlock from Sprint though? If you're going to be with them for 2 years anyway.

You can payoff right away don't need to stay with sprint for two years. Sprint requires 50 day service to unlock.

Yes but you can then cancel and not have to pay for service. Also If you have chase ink plus or ink cash you get 5% back to pay wireless bill.

Normally this would be a great deal, but have been so spoiled by Target iPhone promos lately...

This is an instant discount off of the financed amount. It is not a bill credit deal.

Yes you would have to open a Sprint postpaid account to get the discounted price. Hard pull to your credit.

Hey, so what would be the best way in getting this for myself, a Verizon post paid customer?

Would I have to create a Sprint account first or is there anyway around that? I see you have a workaround for Sprint/Att users but anything on Verizon?
