Hi,

Looks like a drop in price for this Linksys AC1750 router/AC 1200 extender combo:

Walmart here:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Linksy...r/53753311

Brickseek here:
http://brickseek.com/walmart-inve...u=53753311

Good luck!

This router, among several others, is known to have a very poorly designed heatsink. If you want this router to last, try what is suggested here: https://www.all4os.com/router/res...uters.html

I do think it's worth $45....It has generally good ratings with the most common complaint is the range of the 5Ghz band. For a 2.4Ghz AC with the range extender, it's a good deal. I picked one up but they had about 10 on the shelf, so, I'll keep watching them to see if they drop one more time. Overheard the Electronic Associates talking about the massive clearances throughout the department and they said corporate wants to basically dump the clearance stuff in the next week. Hope it holds true....

$45 for a brand-name AC1750 plus AC1200 range extender, along with whatever return policy Walmart provides (30 days?) and extended 2-yr warranty for $4 which therefore totals $49 (+ tx in your state) seems like a great deal if it lasts a minimum of 2 years.

Only concern for purchasing would probably be the size and how much interference you have in your place of installation.

For a typical home under 2500 sq. ft. with normal walls, I would think this should be fine if you locate the router centrally in an open area.

Networking experts can advise better, if they want to chime in.

Cheers!

I have crappy cable modem / router from Verizon (now Frontier). I think its Mediatek or something. For name brand router and extender together for $45. I will buy them and setup bridge network (disable verizon cable modem wifi -> turn on Linksys wifi only)

Just want to clarify that, if I use extender the extender's name will be different than router's original right (ex. MYWIFI and MYWIFI_EXT). Is there anyway to make them 1?

you can't just replace their modem, you may lose your TV Guide and other functionality unless your tv doesnt run to the modem. I'm not sure the details but you should look it up.

as for the extender, I think the name is fine, unlike changing an existing modem to an access point. that I had to log into the router and just change the name to the same network as my fios router.

Yes, what I meant was setting up bridge network. I know there are some cable modems that can be completely replaced with verizon router though.. I haven't checked mine but I think I am still going to need the original router.
