I had the slow navigation issue at first after swapping to this drive as well but rebuilding the PS4's database corrected it. You might want to try that. (It doesn't delete data or anything.)

Every brand is a crap shoot nowadays. Most people's perceptions are colored by that one bad experience with one brand or another. As long as it's packaged properly and not beat up in transit a Seagate is fine.

The short answer is, sort of. Here's a detailed answer I found on Tom'sHardware (this is not my work) that hopefully clears up some of your questions:

Yes, it's a very popular option for PS4 upgrades.

Personally I think Seagate's rep in some circles as failure-prone is somewhat exaggerated. I ran 5 of their standard desktop drives in a 24/7 NAS (abusing them for something they were not rated for) for 4-5 years before the first one died. In year 7 now, 2 of the 5 are still standing. The others were replaced with NAS-rated drives when SMARTs detected bad sectors, not a full failure.

It is probably true that their desktop-class products fail slightly faster than WD, but I don't see the PS4 providing nearly the sort of load that would kill a drive before its own life cycle ended.

Yes. I installed this exact model in my PS4. Causes delay when navigating PS4 menu, in my experience. Unfortunate that I didn't wait for update that allows external storage to be used.

Friend who worked at WD says they're on par with each other now, if anything you could choose one with the longer warranty if they're different to begin with. Most people talking about things are referencing huge incidents in the past like Seagat's 70xx.11 firmware debacle or things like that.
