Go on your local Craigslist and find a 90s Trek or Specialized for the same price. It'll far outlast this.

Bummer, I see them fairly often in the <$100 range. Yes, plenty are listed at $150 and up but that's why they're still listed and not sold.

How is it cheaper to make a threaded headset with a quill stem at this point?

Yes and no, 40mi+ speed on a 90s Trek with a frame that would have taken a hit all these years most probably. I can't think of it without seeing the components or knowing the condition of the bike, not patronising the Walmart bike posted either ! But thanks for posting it OP. For leisure biker, this should be okay I guess.

yeah i'd rather take OP bike new and tuned ( and someone to sue if something goes wrong ) than a used possibly defective and needing parts ( if the bikes are the same price ) bike that might fall apart / break down and not to say that the walmart bike wont break down / fall apart either but i'd still rather trust new ( feel safer ) than unknown used . . .

You are right. The first bike I had was a 20 year old bike, still would have been my favorite bikes, if it was not for the accident I had with a car. I took it for repairs and the expert evaluated and mentioned that since it was a 20+ years frame it can break any moment and not worth repairing it. I had to throw away the bike and bought a Trek.

Any feedback on if the $6 protection plan for 2 years is worth it? Does Walmart actually fix any issues?
