Ryobi 40v chargers are all defective. I've been through four. Luckily I only use it for my Hedge Cutters. I keep having to get them exchanged. Read other reviews as well. Avoid like the plague. Ryobi will not come out with a revised working charger. I spent hours on the phone with tech support. Finally got some answers from an annoyed technician. The price to buy a charger is around $60-$70.

Interesting. Have had my 2 chargers almost 4 years and have never had a problem with either of them.

FOUR years ago? Yea, you probably have the older OP401 charger. Not what they are selling lately.

Yeah 3 or 4 years ago. Moved into my house June 2013 and bought the trimmer and blower shortly after. I wasn't aware they changed the charger since then. Good to know.

HUGE YMMV. No store in the Phoenix area appears to have this in stock (the one without the battery).

Do you guys think I could order this (the power head) and ship it to my local store... & once it arrives, just have them price match the in-store clearance price?

I've never tried that... and it seems like it would work. But how could I be sure the price is $75 at the store?

I know it sounds crazy (sarcasm) but I guess I could just 'ask' someone in the store to check the bar code, huh?

I got the mower, hedge trimmer, blower and weed eater. They all work outstanding. Bought all in January and haven't had any issues at all including 3 batteries and 3 chargers.

I have had three or four OP400 chargers in the last two years or so, none of which have had a problem. Even after dozens of charges on each...
