find me a good 75 inch OLED for around that price. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Maybe because you sacrifice a third of the screen size for a $3K OLED?

Maybe because this TV can get about twice a bright as the OLED would?

Legit deal from what I can see. I've been scoping the XBR75X940D and this is a good contender potentially. But quick research seems like the edge lit can't compare with the 940D. I'm sure it's still a beast of a TV. Congrats on pulling the trigger! I, myself, am super tempted.

Agreed, I would rather have the 75X940D as well. Although the Samsung 75KS9000 has pretty good black levels for an edge lit LCD display, the Sony 75X940D has a Full Array Backlight with over 100 Active LED Zones for near perfect inky black levels, a true 10-Bit color panel for real HDR10 & a Triluminos LCD display for better color enhancements. The 75KS9000 as well has a 10-Bit color panel for real HDR10 & a Quantum Dot display for superior color enhancements over Sony's Triluminos display technology. However, I think the addition of FALD beats the edge lit Sammy by a larger margin than the Quantum Dot over Triluminos alone. In conclusion, if I were picking a 75 incher between these two, I'd definitely go for the Sony over the Sammy. Now, if it were between Samsung's 2016 flagship the 75KS9800 & Sony's 75X940D, I'd definitely get the 75KS9800. Since that Model has all three key features, FALD, 10-Bit & Quantum Dot. I like Samsung's TizenOS 2.0 better than Sony's Android TV system, however, Android TV has way more apps. I too was considering the 75X940D, but decided instead to go with the superior OLED technology of LG's 65" OLED65C6P for $2500 shipped. I was thinking of paying a few hundred more dollars for 10 more inches, but decided quality over quantity was the way to go & I believe I was right.

3D isn't dead, they're coming out with The Godfather trilogy in 3D. That should create a surge in the 3D TV market.

While that's a great trilogy, nothing is bringing back 3D in the near future.
