Yeah, that's for sure. When I searched for this on Amazon, it brought up the older Pirates-series ships too, and 3rd-party sellers are asking $600 and up. You can't always go by 3rd-party prices but yeah, the big ships have turned-out to be highly collectible. Of course the problem is if you still have one in a box, you feel like you can't open it and build it because then the value will go down. That is the joy and pain of Lego collecting.

But I would caution against buying just because you think it will go up in price. It might take a long time, and, newer sets might not go up nearly as much as in the past, since a lot more people are buying these large sets and storing them. 8-10 years ago there were not nearly as many people doing that, so those sets are rare.

Anyway, bought this from Amazon now. Thanks for the deal. I saw it when it came out and was tempted to get it; these hard-to-find sets rarely go below retail. So getting it for this price pushed me over the edge.

Awesome, glad I didn't jump on this set when it first came out. Picked one up now, but I must say I want to build it. Especially after seeing it in person at the logo store.

Yeah, those are meaningless. Go by sold Buy it Now values on Ebay.

Still seems like a lot of money for half a boat.

Don't even go by buy it now necessarily. The "or best offer" isn't reflected and an item could have sold by half. Best way for real-time item appraisal is go to sold listings and auction so you see exactly what it sold for.

So if old ships (before people were collecting and stashing) originally sold for $120 are now actually selling for let's say $450, now that people have caught on, something like this would only sell for double or so in like 5 years time? Not really worth it I suppose.
