In the market for a new grill.. not quite ready to spend $500+ on something that'll last me forever, but my $80 clearance grill from Kmart 3 years ago is done. This might make for a nice stopgap if I can get it... Anybody have any experience?

Cant speak for this grill specifically but it looks too good to be true for $200. youd need to go see it in store. Most stainless grills advertised aren't fully legit stainless.

Go see it in store and check for where they have the painted parts. See how heavy the lid is.

Also, bring a magnet and make sure it doesnt stick. Crappy stainless has more iron causing a magnet to stick to it.

Either way, for a $200 beater grill, it may be worth the gamble.

I just got a legit one from costco for $850 as a gift...decent deal, but it'll last. These kitchenaids are junk, and a comparable weber is $1500

I just sold a 7 year old Range Master from Aldi on CL for $50 because I found a used Weber Summit on CL for $350. It was missing the wheels and had a ding in the side of the door. I added casters and straightened the door. The Range Master I sold cleaned up very well with no stainless issues. I bought a $5 ignitor for it before selling. The Summit has tiny rust pits in it. It's thicker and heats up much faster, but I'm disappointed in the quality of the stainless on my Weber. It does cook well and evenly, and the inside is easy to clean. I knew this rust pit issue going in, which is why I bought a used Weber instead of a clearance model for twice the price.

Weber has really gone down hill IMHO

Does your summit have the cast iron grates? Even though the one i had was "stainless", that was for asthetics only, Had those cast iron ones, and they rusted out. I needed to drop $70 for the replacement stainless ones. The ignitor broke also, and the teepees are crumbling.

Do you have the summit with the knobs on the side or the front? The ones with the knobs on the side are good classic webber and has even heat, but a useless shelf. the ones they have in the front have too much spacing inbetween the burners, and i end up using the sear burner and cook on one half of the grill.

Seeing the new webers at home depot with the massive opening underneath and exposed tank is really off the charts.

It's the S420. Knobs in front. Stainless grates and teepees. Saddest part is I quit covering my Range Master the last 3 years in Ohio Winters and it still stood up. It was too nice to put out at the curb at 6-7 years.

This looks almost identical to the one at BJ's Club. Almost identical specs and all for $199

Did you see the smoker for $99? That looked interesting too...

Just bought a new house and hit the 40 mark, the lady is 'owing' me a bday/home present of a grill.

If a Weber is poor quality at this point, what is good? Hopefully don't come off snarky, I just want to make sure I get a good grill.

Depends honestly on which weber s you compare it to.
They are building some really less quality grills now . I've got one that has really disappointed me for a $600 grill. For $200 though this would be decent enough. Be sure it's a design burner tubes and flame shields are available easily for.
Most stainless steel even some of the more expensive stuff isn't rust proof.
It's corrosion resistant.

The comparable Weber cost with 4-5 burners cost what? $600/700 ....imo this seems too good to be true

This isn't going to compare to a good weber.
It will probably do fair enough though for a 200$grill.
And you can bet the 2 year warranty has no mention of rust through or burner failure.
Just "manufacture defects."
