If you get these, I highly recommend you also get the end caps [sears.com] for a nice, finished look. Makes a big difference.

This looks great but the attachment kits are pretty pricey

Sorry if someone already asked this but I have many bikes for my kids. Can I install this and buy the appropriate bike hooks and hang the bikes on these? Appreciate your help.

EDIT: I just went to Sears link(thanks to the original poster). On the last page, looks like hanging bikes with these is possible. I'll definitely going to get a few of these. Thanks again.

Why buy this when you can just put up a wood rail and attach cheaper non-proprietary hangers? Maybe they stop making this product line and you are left with a useless rail? Maybe they don't sell the attachments you want? Seems more expensive and less flexible than a strong wood rail.

I wish everything is universally compatible. Just like everything else, there are proprietary parts with the items that you buy. Just have to bite the bullet. Brand name is more stable, trusted, and historically will be in business for the long run. For instance, should we stop buying Samsung products because they might go out of business and you can't buy parts from them?

Looks actually matter too. I prefer my garage that is open to my neighborhood to look as nice as possible. They've been around a long time and chance of discontinuing is small.

Maybe because you can hang things on them other than hooks????? I have 3 steel cabinets and shelves on mine. Installing a 150lb weight capacity steel cabinet literally takes lifting it up onto the rail and tightening 4 bolts.

Which attachment do you need that they don't make? They even have a bottle opener attachment Beer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002AS9IN0/
