Just took these off my head. Meant to listen for a few minutes & that led to an hour. :-)

They don't overwhelm me with a thundering low end that overshadows vocals or instruments. They don't kill or remove the sparkle from the highs. This specific edition has pads that won't touch your ears if you're dumbo like me.

The soundstage isn't too close, isn't too far, everything sounds cohesive and balanced.

I simply can't give these things enough praise. I haven't heard anything sub $500 that can match these, but they definitely require an amp unless you're running some freakish HiFi source with a built in.
