Ecobee4 Wifi Alexa Thermostat In-stock/Available - GA Power Customers + Other State Rebates

I've been waiting for this to be relased. It has been available for order/preorder on the Ecobee site but it just started popping up on the local electric marketplaces. Some other states also have this as well: Other States can be found on the ecobee site:

Just a warning, I took advantage of a similar program in Nevada and part of the agreement is that they can change the temp during peak times. This translated to almost daily having the thermostat at 85. IMO not worth it.

It's part of the rebate agreement with some power companies.

Sure. I clicked the link in the OP's post and this came up, assuming it used my browser's location:

Get up to $125 back on the purchase of an ecobee4, ecobee3 or ecobee3 lite

How it works:

Purchase, install, and register your ecobee thermostat

Apply for the rebate(s):

CONSUMERS ENERGY APPLICATION FORM
DTE ENERGY APPLICATION FORM

After being approved, DTE Energy and/or Consumers Energy will mail you your rebate check(s) in 6-8 weeks. It's that simple!

OK now the big question is the difference between ecobee3 vs ecobee4. Looks like the only difference is alexa. I have Echo and two dots. And where the thermostat sits i hardly go in that room.
So it's really not worth upgrade it or get ecobee3 which has been trending at 175 to 180. I'm in SE michigan so with dte and consumer rebate. I'll be paying 50 to 60 bucks.

I guess I would likely go with the 4. I might later regret not having Alexa and there's also long term support issues as the 3 will likely be end of life a year or two before the 4.
